My wife is really into Southwestern Native American pottery and I showed her this entry of yours. She wants to know just what that giant pot-like thing is. Is it some kind of art object or is it functional like a really big chiminea?
Hi Matt, I wrote about those back here: If Everything Goes According to PlanThey are part "Wall Cycle to Ocotillo" by Mags Harries and Lajos Héder. On their site, I was thrilled to read that "Acoustic Vessels along the canals have evaporative cooling over the benches and solar-powered interior water systems that create water sounds." However, by the time I went out to check them out for the blog, all cooling a solar power was apparently inoperative. I still hold out hope that one day I'll ride past this one, which is next to the Arizona Canal just east of the Piestewa Freeway, and hear it making water sounds and/or cooling again.
