It got up to the low 40s in Wisconsin today. Shorts aren't mandatory, but they are optional, and I saw several students so opting.
It was about 48 when I hit the road this morning, and I did not wear a jacket or anything. I was going to make a joke about Clinton Hart Merriam, latitude, and pants length out of that, but that's stretching it, even for me. Let's just say it was a really nice day.
Looking at that bike gave me an acid flashback. Not that I know what acid is, don't you know.
limom the mind-expanding element for me in this photo is the white Geax Tatoo tires on the larger bike. Something about those bulbous meats just makes me want to go ride.
I was looking at some 47s last night that looked really nice but I don't think they are going to fit under my new fenders. So, new wheels so new tires?I mean you just can't put the old tires on the new wheels. That just wouldn't be right.
So far for me the sweet spot for tires on my commuter is about 1.5" wide, slick or almost slick, which seems to be the right balance of traction, comfort, and speed-potential. But I am always interested in what people ride and why, and that bike in the photo, except for the cheap bouncy fork, would be interesting to take for a test spin I think. And yes, it is written: new wheels, new tires, new tubes.
the future is looking bright!! :DDDDD
